As we enter our 40th year of service to our citizens, I would like to welcome you to the California City Police Department's web page. It is my goal to provide excellent service through community partnerships that build trust, and a safe community that enhances the quality of life. The department is committed to technological improvements and finding more effective ways to serve the community.

Mission Statement:
We, the members of the California City Police Department, are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of the residents of California City and respond to public concerns in a manner which promotes neighborhoods free from the fear of crime, while ensuring quality of life.
Strategy:
Our strategy for accomplishing this mission, is to preserve the peace, prevent crime, apprehend offenders, facilitate problem solving community partnerships, enforce laws, and display empathy and respect for the dignity of all individuals.
Vision Statement:
The California City Police Department provides the best possible service to the
community with innovative and comprehensive programs that include:
(a) A well trained and educated staff with a variety of professional and life experiences;
(b) A staff that respects human dignity and the rights of individuals;
(c) Full access to law enforcement resources; Utilization of the latest law enforcement technology and equipment;
(d) A Community Oriented Policing philosophy and Community Based Problem Solving programs;
(e) Crime Prevention, Education and Awareness programs;
(f) Assist, and support the community in public safety and disaster preparedness;
(g) Access to the Emergency Operations Center and network for continuous operational readiness;
(h) Participation in all aspects of community safety;
(i) Commitment to hiring personnel who are efficient and effective in providing quality law enforcement to the community;
(j) and ensuring our staff receive realistic, ongoing, current and extensive training in the best practices in law enforcement.
Concealed Weapons Permit:
If you are a resident of California City and would like to obtain a concealed weapons permit, you may apply at the Police Department. All new applicants are required to successfully complete a certified firearms safety course. New permits are issued only to applicants who meet the requirements and are approved by the Chief of Police.
Special Enforcement Team:
The Police Department continues to strive to keep the public informed of what is happening in our community so that the citizens can plan and prepare for incidents that may occur. The Attorney General has stated that agencies with SWAT or Special Enforcement Teams, inform the public of such teams.
